I pulled this Radius 42 out of my stack of unopened boxes today and thought I'd try it out. It came with a couple of accessories. One is like a flat flamed Bunsen burner. I thought it might be for melting wax on skis or maybe melting heroin in a spoon but I'm just guessing. The other I believe is suppose to provide light and has wire loop attached for hanging.

The directions are on the piece of paper glued to the inside of the case lid are still legible.

I had a bit of trouble with the flame at first but cleaning the jet took care of that.

With a clean jet the stove still ran weakly. I'm sure needs a thorough fettle to get it back in good operating order.

I would love a lamp attachment for mine.
Shame the mantles are so fragile, they only last as long as the attachment is unpacked. :(

The loop forms part of the mantle support. Good to see another of these rare attachments.

You could see the mantle in the post Kerophile initially showed you (Radius 42 with a light attachment.)
I always use the smaller gaslight mantles, old ones made by Aladdin in that case, but other manufaturer make them.
    E.g. Veritas.

Thanks Christer! I looked at that link but didn't scroll down that far enough to see the mantle. O.K. now I'm off to find a suitable mantle!

    Hi Ben,
A great score, Congrats! This type stove w/lamp attachment has long been on my wish list. A bottom fill No.42 I should be able to find but I have resigned myself to making/adapting a lamp attachment, as the chance of me ever finding one is unlikely.
It appears you have a gassie w/o an SRV? If so you might add a warning of sort in the tin, safety 1st.
You're likely aware but FYI here, there were at least 3 obvious tank changes during No.42 production:
a bottom fill such as yours, a smooth uninterrupted tank, a beauty to behold (did I mention it was on my wish list)
a bottom fill w/large srv on topside (link below).
a top fill w/larger srv lid

TINS!! oh yes, quite a variety of wonderful No.42 tins.
That said I can not think of a No.42 package that I admire in every way more than yours.
:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: thx for sharing, omc :)

Here's a nice YouTube video showing the mantle in action http://tinyurl.com/naahv4a. As Spiritburner said, "The loop forms part of the mantle support" and is not used for hanging the lamp as I'd incorrectly guessed.

z1ulike, great video link and it also shows the Radius case of that particular stove.
I think that your stove case is the 'premiere' of the Radius cases.

I've got one of the bottom-fill Radius 42's, no case, sad to say.

Now, if I can score a British Army #7 case to go with it....!

O.K. I finally got around to fitting a mantel to the light attachment. There is a lot of metal in the attachment and I had to fill the alcohol font 3 times to get it up and running properly. Anything less and the burner bell would cool and the flame would go out. Once you get it up to speed those blue flames coming out the bottom heat the burner bell and keep the Coleman vaporized.

Ben that's one fantastic stove, lamp & torch kit. Looks like your making well over 100 watts.
