Hi gents, Found this little gem yesterday. The stove originated from George, Western Cape Province, South Africa. No further history available. It has the domed bottom (not rib pressed) with reserve cap mount on side of the tank. Someone had a bright moment and removed the logo on the burner - I believe this to be the original Arara burner. Engraving on the tank is in beautiful condition. I will not be polishing the stove. The tin is also in very good condition but missing the clasp. Thanks for looking. Jacques
Very nice stove you have acquired. Great preserved box. As for the burner, I don't really understand why someone would obliterate who if it was original? I guess it is more "rational" to remove the embossing that does not match the original....
Appreciate your replies gents. @Knee - most of these burners have criss cross embossed markings but with this one I suspect it was a one liner affair which could well have been the Arara name - I have seen some funny things been conjured up by my country men. Also the burner jet is different to those for instance found on a Primus - it is slightly taller With rounded edges.
Hi @Jacques Van Der Rijst A very nice outfit you have acquired, i the quality of the tin box, the graphics on the lid has a bit of the Art Deco design most likely from the 20's-30's. There's a good possibility the burner may be a non original replacement due to being coked up with carbon, nice addition to your collection
