I was reading an old post by, I think, Presscall, called Rustbucket. I showed my wife the amazing transformation he did from the rust bucket to the beautiful finished Optimus 111. My wife challenged me to find a rust bucket for myself and see what I could do. I found a reasonable Optimus 8R that looked pretty bad. I will not do a nut by bolt description as Presscall did so well, but I will show the before and after. FYI, I did not go the Ford Cosmos color route because I wanted something more heat resistant. I settled on Duplicolor engine paint, supposedly good to 500F.

Nice job on the 8r! Got one of very similar vintage. You've brought a great stove back from the brink. Congrats!!! Jim (jrs08)

I’m delighted my Rustbucket project prompted you to restoring the 8R so superbly.

I was relatively new to CCS at the time I compiled that post and it was as much an exploration of a forum and friends new to me as it was the fettling project itself. I was not disappointed on either count and am very glad I stayed around and that CCS goes from strength to strength thanks to contributors like yourself getting involved. Bravo!
