A friend needed somewhere to get rid of some petrol from a dud two stroke engine so we have emptied it into an old Aspen bottle. It is premixed with lubricating oil but I will try burning it in my M-1950 and see how badly it gunks up. I have a spare generator so its not going to cause any big problems. A couple of litres of free fuel will keep a stove running for a while
If anything will burn it with no worries, the M-1950 will! It should work just fine, if for no other reason then the stove coming with TWO spare generators, If you had none, it would be a different situation. Murph
G,,day I have run 2stroke in one, also diesel, and kero. it takes more preheat and a little smokey cheers kerry
This wasnt as successful as I had hoped. You can see the results here:
I had a bad experiance with fre fuel but it was for a diesel motor not a stove 60L of diesel from a home heating tank that had rust holes. Did a quick check that it wasnt cloudy etc and it was nice and clear Too clear in fact. 60 L contained 40L water which didnt burn well when poured into the tank of my 4wd. That was fun but no permanant damage
That's a most interesting video... Good thing to look out for. I think I may have done the same thing with a Primus Multi fuel and some out of date 2stroke mix from a leaf blower that would not start. I think I had a similar result. I didn't really consider what was going on at the time. 2stroke mix has lumps in it then....
Two stroke fuel would be fine in any of the U.S. Military stoves but my suggestion would be to thin it about half 'n half with new unadded gasoline (petrol). lance
