I am the proud owner of a (new to me) Sea Swing with Optimus 45 (trying to confirm here that claim and the circa). I am intent on using this as my main galley tool while underway. I would like to find a mounting gimbal plate that is missing from the swing, and to locate directions for operating the stove. I assume this is the kero version? I assume I need to get a rebuild kit? From where? What is the best way to get this baby working again and reliable? Cleaning method for burner etc.? Best polish? Many thanks, Scott
Kero, yes. Much info here. Search on sea swing. Others will be along with useful lore. Welcome to CCS.
Hi @Scott Abbott and welcome to CCS. Kit C Optimus/Primus etc 1.75 pint 45, 48, 106, 221 (large 18mm pump) - The Fettlebox Heat-resistant burner washers, and fitting them. Stove restoration. Parts 1 to 4 Stove Lighting instructions Best Regards, Kerophile.
Thanks so much Kerofile! I will start my homework & research. Thanks so much for helping with parts I need. Attached is my humble boat it is going in; preparing for Bermuda trip in 2020. Swing & stove will get used for their intended purpose. Guess I will need a mounting base made if I can’t find one out there somewhere.
Nice boat at @Scott Abbott. 40 years ago I sailed for a month with a friend of my who was headed to Australia. He had a sea swing on the boat and it worked well under sail and heeled over on our way to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. If you can find the base I think you're going to really like it. It's nice to have a hot cup when you've got the night watch. Ben
