I happened on a Craigslist ad that was selling a green camp stove and a black camp stove for $15 USD each, so I took a chance and found the Handy Chef and a Coleman 425B. The sellers wanted them both gone so I offered $15 for both and got 'em! First time finding an oldie in the neighborhood. It's very well-used, but I was able to cook dinner for the family on Independence Day on it - burgers, hotdogs, a little bit of everything.

Anyways, I did some work on the pump, the filler cap (new gasket), and the generator, which had a bunged up jet cleaning rod and coil. The coil was damaged and warped to the point that I couldn't get it back into the generator tube, but was able to replace the coil with so many Coleman generators on hand. Works great!

The burner assembly, pump, and fuel tank are identical to the later Prentiss Wabers No. 4, and the Montgomery Ward Lakeside.

Very nice - looks just like my Prentiss Wabers Autocook No. 4, even down to the flame shots...

Amazing that we have stoves that still work today as when new so many years ago... (more amazing that so many stoves of this design are still available - even as I write this - a testament to the design?)
