SotM (Stove of the Month) May 2024

The rules

• Maximum of 2 pictures in the entry - one of which will be used for the vote. If your stove is listed in the Stove Reference Gallery a link can be added with your entry (not compulsory).
• Stove must be presently owned by the member.
• One entry per member.
• Stoves that have won previously are excluded.

NB - no theme, no requirement to post in the SRG, no requirement to be lit or working.

This nominations post will be open for the month of May. At the end of the month the post will be closed & the qualifying stoves placed in a blind poll for members to vote for. The poll will remain open for 1 week. Most votes is the winner.

Please find my entry for SoftM for May. My refurbished Optimus 8R in the snow a few months back. The wee flame is the meths starting to pre-warm, the valve is still shut.

As there's no need for the stove to be lit I can enter my unfired 1939 nickel Primus No.10. Found in the SRG here

 

@Robert Radcliffe A very nice nice nickel plaited version of the No 10, i think this months comp is going to be a tough one when casting our vote

 

I'd like to add my Dolphin Firelite 'convertable' stove into the mix.

I will add an SRG post when I get around to it. I will also add it's manual to the SRL.

I bought it new in box and I think I'll keep it that way. Since I don't need a user lamp or stove and the quality of this Firelite is questionable...

Greetings, All!

I was perusing some old stove photos, and came across one that I'd like to share here. I found this stove, an Optimus 45 with a silent burner, quite a few decades ago, in an antique store down in El Cajon, CA. I knew it was worth the asking price of $20, and man was I right! We've used it many times over the years, and it's always been dependable, with 100% reliability!! My entry in the May SOTM is this neat old stove!

Getting ready to boil up some water for a hot cuppa tea, before the snow shoveling begins!



So, how did it work? Glad you asked! It worked wonderfully, as you can see in this action shot!
