Don't know if I should get excited about this one or not.

Some of you may remember the 71 I got and was having problems with it. It was bent, and the threads were stripped. I told the seller all about it and that I finally did get it working right, and how much do I owe him. He said just pay shipping for all my effort. Good seller.

So I just got an email from him asking me if a wanted a freebie. He got it with a package deal. It's real rough. But I can get it for shipping cost.

It's a darker green color. I asked if it looked spray painted, he said no. I need one to try my hand at sand blasting and painting. So this will work just fine.

As I'm typing this it dawned on me this might be a copy. You guys have any idea what this is? Thanks.

Sorry for the small pics. It's what he sent.

If it isn't a 8R, it's a damn good copy. Lots of companies made copies.

That color makes me think about an 8R clone...like Stan or Tex Sport. Probably worth the effort just on resale value to the oddball gatherers out there.

That looks to be an 8R judging by the tank seam. Regardless, they are worth restoring even if it’s for the experience

Some of the copies have a better reputation than the original 8R!
I can't see a flame plate in the pics (but maybe it is lying in the case, like with an Opti 99 I bought recently) but these can be found/homemade.
If it were me, I'd go for it!

Yours for the cost of shipping.. that seems like a no brainer.

    RE OP: "Stove ID please":
Red knob on brass shaft... I'm guessing it said/says PAK COOK V on the knob (V as in five).
Here is an example to review
FWIW Pak Cook's Svea123 copy has some Optimus compatible parts, that should hold true for your 8R copy, if so, that is a plus.

He's going to ship it on Monday. So we'll know soon enough what it is.

So OMC was right. It's a Pack Cook #5. It doesn't look as bad in real life. I may not paint it. But then again what can I hurt. It does stink like old, used oil. It will get a bath for sure. I bet just like will make it look better too.

Not bad for the price of shipping. I guess.

They made a nice stove. Yours looks to be a winner.
