    @Tony Press Nice 123 project! Other than the usual missing cup&handle, and pricker(s) all else seems to be there! The spindle looks a bit short, is a part broken of?

    Happy fettling!

    All the best,

    Wim

    Great find. Not just another Svea123; it looks like a real classic.

    Nice find. I just got an unused one from don’t know time frame. Shows patina but never had fuel in it. Have box, pricker and instructions. Was meant for a sigg tourist which I have also. Do you think I should clean it up or leave it as is?

    Leave it “as is”. That is Patina on the stove!

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

    Being unused. Is that rare? Should I fire it up?

    My philosophy is: if it’s unused, and I’m not going to use it (which I wouldn’t if it was unused), I would leave it as found, except if it was subject to active corrosion.

    If it was subject to active corrosion I would carefully arrest the corrosion without affecting the patina elsewhere.

    My views only...

    Cheers

    Thanks. I have others I can use I suppose. Looked at the fogas website. Sadly I don’t speak Swedish. I’ll keep looking for that vaporizer tube assembly. Maybe doc mark will reply and sell me one.

    I’ve got an unused 123. I won’t use it. Instead, I’ve lost count of how many used ones I’ve got to use instead of the unused one...:lol:

    Here are the things that might date your stove:

    1. A date on the instruction or the box;

    2. Whether the windshield is stamped Svea 123;

    3. Which components of the stove are stamped;

    4. The type of filler cap/SRV;

    5. The type of vapouriser; and

    6. The graphics on the box.

    EDIT: 7. The type of key the stove has.

    Cheers

    I don’t speak Swedish either but I get by by using the “translate page” function on Google Chrome.

    Then, when I’ve got an order list, I email them, in English, to clarify that what I am ordering is correct.

    They are very helpful.

    Cheers

    Yes. The end of the control spindle is broken off.

    If the rest of the spindle is ok, I’ll braze a new bit on and file it square.

    If not I’ll hunt down a spindle.

    Cheers

    Thanks, @shagratork. I was going to pull that link up, but you’ve saved me the effort.

    So, going through the excellent @exeter_yak thread, I conclude that my 123 above is circa 1959: Type 2 fuel cap/NRV; A3 key. Other features consistent with relatively early Sievert Svea 123.

    As I pull it apart, I’ll post photos here.

    Cheers

    @Tony Press ,

    Tony, Excellent older SVEA 123, and I very much look forward to seeing it up and running again!! Well done on scoring it! If you would like a NOS old style spindle, please PT me your address, and I'll happily send you one. I have quite a few of them in my parts cache, and would be honored to send one your way, Mate!

    @Mark Layman , I do have quite a few, NOS, old style SVEA 123 vaporizers in my parts, as you probably read when I first posted about getting them. I know, back when Colin Fletcher wrote his excellent tome, The New Complete Walker, that part was going for $17.90. Mine are from the Optimus time period, and have the small circular rings on the upper part, below the jet. They come with a NOS jet in place, and a NOS wick insitu. Right now, Bascamp, in the UK have them in stock for £29.95, which, at today's rate, equals $41.83. Neither mine, nor those offered by Basecamp, come with burner bells, or flame spreaders. If course, if you order from Basecamp, your shipping with be a tad more, than if you and I can strike a deal. Let me think about it, a bit, and see if I can come up with a fair price that both of us would like. Or, if you're not interested, at all, that's OK, too. Just let me know. Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    No date on box or instructions. Just a number 92131 lower left of sheet. Probably a revision number.
    Pentagon filler cap no hex head.
    Two ring vaporizer.
    One day I may find out.
    Hello Doc thanks for replying. I would rather give you the money. I'm sure your price would be fair and reasonable.
    I have no issues with sending cash in the mail. Think on it and let me know.
