I have a Svea 123 (not the R version) and am using a 3 mm clock key, but it seems to be too big - way too much play IMO. Anyone know if the actual spec is 2.75 mm or 2.5 mm? What would be really cool is to find square brass the right ID (2.75mm or 2.5 mm)so I can make one of these (picture in post #28) https://classiccampstoves.com/threa...d-date-by-cup-handle.35657/page-2#post-367627 Going to order spares and get one the right size while I'm at it. Any bonafide Svea throttle keys I acquire are not going packing with me, just the new commercial clock keys.
Hi, I measured mine once, thinking I'd buy a clock key so I could keep my original key at home as you plan to do, and promptly forgot to write the number down, though 2.5mm sounds familiar. Do you have a micrometer or caliper you can measure the valve stem with? If so, a 2.5mm should measure out about 0.098" (a fat 3/32" if you just have a good rule) and a 2.75mm should come out about 0.108" (a pudgy 7/64") though there is probably a bit of wear on the stem which will make your measurements come out slightly smaller. I liked the other keys you made, too. Good luck! Rick C
I recently bought a number 2 clock key for mine, 2.75mm. It fits very well. The spindle mic'ed at about .108.
I recently measured one but it had been worn a fair bit. I got 2.5 a 2.6 mm. The number 2 clock key fits well. Tony
