    I never knew that.

    I tend not to use 'petrol' or 'paraffin' as a fuel names, as in different countries they can mean different fuels. Could be wrong, but I think if people use the American terms 'kerosene' and 'gasoline' there should be no international confusion.

    However, trust the Americans to call a liquid 'gas'.:lol::lol:

    Well, it is a colloquial abbreviation for "gasoline"!

    What I refered to is a tendency to speak of 'petrolburners' and 'keroburners' that emerged here early on. Hardly a practice set in stone; far from it...

    Well i am just buying some paraffin and in the uk it appears the grade for greenhouse heaters is a c1 and for indoor lamps it is c5 .
    But on the american and uk thing it reminds me of the story a cabbie told to a comedian from the uk that he once had a lady get in his cab and said lady just sit on your fanny and he could not work out why she was laying on the seat , trust them yankees lol , i have a yankee friend and omg in the early days omg we use to laugh so hard when one of us use to say something and the other wasl ike what the hell is that , i said cooker to her she said wow you have a lady that comes in and cooks your meals lol , stuff like that
