    My Taykit! :-)
I picked this up about a year ago and it only cost me about seven times what the original purchase price shows...

I found my Taykit at a garage sale. The seller said it was worthless as he could never get it to run. I paid 75c. At home I opened the cap and smelled the fumes. Diesel oil. I rinsed it with Coleman fuel, then denatured alcohol, and cleaned the orifice with a bristle from a wire brush. After filling it with Coleman fuel, and dribbling a litte into the priming cup, it fired up and ran like a champ. I have never found an instruction sheet so I had to work out the packing sequence by myself. It was like a Chinese block puzzle, but I did it.

Are there any dates on any of the paperwork or carton?

I've read that the TAYKIT is the only campstove made of Monel Metal.

What a deal! I paid about 100 times that... but... I REALLY wanted one. As you can see, this one also runs great.

I just pulled all the paperwork out and not so much as a copyright date to be found. It was purchased by "John W. Estes" originally. The note is from him and addressed to what looks like a "Limon?(maybe) Coffman" whom it would appear ended up with the stove.
The box and instructions are marked "box 506".
edit- Oh, by the way- it took 9 minutes from cold to full boil of 16 ounces of water.

Oh yes, and I only won it by a buck, so others were "wanting it badly" too! It and other select stoves will not be sold on till I'm gone... Well, not if I have any say about it. [-X
