Flea market find last week. Note the two filter tubes. Pulled the wicks and they were slightly crumbly, but the stove worked right away; however, a tank or two of meths and some new cotton may improve the flame? Quite happy with this one, as it is a rarity in this area. It handily supports our Simplex kettles and will become a part of our hurricane kit for the casa. willie on the warm and sunny Gulf of Mexico
Another Turm 38. I found this one at an antique store with box and directions for $10. All in fair to poor condition. I soaked it in white vinegar and soaked the wick as well. Soaked the tank, but I forgot to rinse it good with alcohol before I fired it up; it burns yellow at first. I'll try a couple tanks of alcohol and maybe it will blue up. Paint was what Home Depot had in high temperature paint, besides black. The stove was badly burned green when I got it. I'm not much of a collector, huh? It only has a single vaporizing tube and the body seems flimsy, it twists, but will stay flat by forcing it flat.
