Hi, here are some photos of a New Old Stock (NOS) British Valor No.4601 roarer burner.

This burner is intended for a 1.75/2 pint stove and uses the Townson & Coxon patent, which allows easy access to the jet by removing a screw plug on the top of the burner:

In the photos above you will see that I have used a purpose made jet tool, which is double-ended, having a screw to remove the plug as well as the conventional jet key head. This key is actually stamped as Burmos, another British stove make, which also utilised these patent burners.

The final photo in the series shows that a conventional articulated jet key can be used for nipple removal/replacement if the narrow diameter straight key is not available.

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

The screw plug is probably the most brilliant design for these old burners.

    Thanks for the detailed photos.

I am sure the guy that invented this easy access burner had big hands and had gone mad from using those double jointed wrenches. :rage: ](*,) :rage: ](*,)

    Morning, Kerophile, and All,

George, I'd love to get one of those purpose-made tools for the jet and screw. Is something like that still to be found on the used market? Neat little tool, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing these excellent photos of your NOS Valor burner. Well done, my friend! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Mark

That is the approach I would take as I have never seen another of these tools on offer.

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.
