Master of cheater Abbas, (Tradera) Before Ann-sam now: Biab90 Only talk to try sound good, no answer on real question. You cheat collector with fake cheat bid with many many account. You not shame of behavior? Now you try ly low and think people not notice change account names. No no. Many people see.
I walk into a casino with 500 dollars. I say, "I will only spend 100 dollars". If I spend all 500 dollars ..... Do I blame the casino and all the other players because I spent all my money? No, I blame myself. Bid only as much as you are willing to spend. You cannot be cheated then. Normally live auctions are only posted in the Subscribers page Auction Watch. It looks like you found a way to post auction items. Welcome to CCS.
Correct but in your case all the other players also loose their money. That is all in the game. This is not the case when I upbid for a friend to raise the price.
I haven't participated in an auction for years, but to me the question comes down to: would I do this (fake bidding) and consider it right? The answer would be no.
Agreed. But who is the one making someone pay too much? No one. I fail to see the "cheat". No one is bidding higher than they are willing to pay. This is a new person and only posting here. Who are they, and are they a legitimate source of this information?
In the law field, we called certain things 'sharp practice'. They weren't illegal, they were within the letter of the rules but outside their spirit. You knew it when you saw it. In a relatively close-knit Bar (say a few hundred lawyers), such attorneys eventually found themselves with bad reputations and other lawyers would avoid dealing with them. Their practices suffered. It was a 'what goes around comes around' situation. As young lawyers, we were taught to avoid it. I see this auction thing in that light.
The idea of an auction is subverted if the seller or their shills are making fake bids to run up the price. This is indeed a sharp practice, and should (in my opinion) get the seller banned from the auction site. The practice doesn’t force me to pay more than I’m willing, but can result in my not winning an item, even though my bid is the highest legitimate bid. Therefore, it wastes my time. ….Arch
Exactly. And if your bid is placed in the final moments it's as good as a sealed bidding process. The shills won't have time to bid. Alec.
Off coarse you are. If I have a max. of 100euros. I start at 10euro, not at 100, if I am not falsly upbid every time till my max, it saves me money and I pay a fair price. If there is an automatic system where you put in your max and it is automatically updated every time someone overbid you, time is not your friend and you always will pay your max. Or get overbid.
Ok, so you see an advertisement for a fantastic deal on a truck in Atlanta. You drive to Atlanta with cash in hand, and the seller tells you that someone else has beat you to it, but for an additional $1000, it’s yours. You say no and drive home. The following week, you see that the same truck is offered by the same seller for the same price you offered. Were you cheated? ….Arch
9 times out of 10 the truth in those deals is shouted to you as you walk out the drive. I would keep walking
Something fishy here. @Abbas @John DG @rayjon All have input about scams, but have not shared anything other than posts in this thread.
I strongly get the impression that your examples are written with only one outcome: your are right. I can rewrite your example with very small differences and the answer would be yes, you where scammed.
Scammed maybe no but cheated certainly. Hour each way means 2 hours minimum wasted plus the fuel used. I wouldnt be happy either and thats why when a reasonable deal is offered when Im leaving I would carry on. Im not allowed to describe my true feelings on the subject here as children might be reading
