I am using the 3 piece cap but do I paint it red or leave it brass?
I used a red one piece for a visual reference, it's a Frankie so I'm going all the way with it.

I'm going to fall in the 'painted' ranks. It just seems to 'fit'.

Painted 3-Piece would probably look more original.

The other option would be to get the fount chromed and have polished brass. That would set the brass off nicely. :)

LOL thank you man, I appreciate the kind words, I worked very hard to make something of the salvaged parts and its nice to see that people like it.

    but of course.

    Thank you so much.

I would love to get a nickle fount for it some day.

I prefer brass but looking again at the new paint job, I think you need to do something with the filler cap to accentuate the contrast. It's a great shame you can't get brass filler caps - that would look awesome! There's something about red and brass that looks really great together - I think it might be something to do with British steam trains and red telephone boxes with brass handles!

I'm in the brass department as well ;)

In my opinion, with the red cap, it's a nice stove. The brass cap gives it just that bit more and makes it a cool stove.
