| One of the catalogues on the site shows taps for jet threads. That raises a few questions: does anybody know what the thread is? There is what looks like a stub tap which might be designed to fit a knuckle key - can that be right? Presumably the use of a tap would be to recut a stripped burner thread - would that work OK without leaking? On that point, are taper threaded jets slightly oversize?
Just thoughts that came to me while struggling to start a jet in a more than usually troublesome burner... |

Here we go Murray If you have a nut , bolt , jet or socket in this case that is striped . This term refers to the thread has given way and is no longer there. To retap this at the same size is not posable because the br*** **** is larger.
This means you would have to use a larger tap than find a larger jet thread. All jets are the same size that I know of (some could have a differant tpi).
You would be able to retap a silent burner by comming though from the top but a roarer would be a bugger to do. I think it would be easer to completely strip the burner replace the socket then assemble it again. But better still would be to get a new one.

Albert, you could use a heli coil kit to replace the threads stripped out of a socket. They're not cheap, but they work well.
