Awwww! This is a topic on many a forum. Wally World has had Coleman Fuel, all the time, until recently. There is some there, occasionally, but now they seem to sell Crown Brand. Some say the same, I prefer to buy Coleman Fuel. Ace Hardware, Dicks Sporting Goods, etc have it for top dollar. 13.99 p/gal. I have not seen it at the grocery store for a long time. I prefer to find a Coleman Outlet, and buy it for 9.99 p/gal. Some of the Southern California members will advise local places. Ken in NC
6th stop was a charm, seems Big 5 still carries it. I am stocked up for the end of the world. I am going to wait until sunset and fire her up again so it looks cooler. I am having fun!
@cornboy69 I do not know your name. Not an expert with this stove, I do not have one, but the yellow may disappear as you burn off the old stuff and run that new fuel through it. I wanted one before, now I want one even more. I'm gonna have to light my Basford 6 today for lunch.
Nice flames. They look powerful. Hopefully, like Ken has said, that the yellow will turn to blue after a bit run some new fuel through it. As strong as the flames are you probably don't have a clogged generator. If the yellow continues or gets worse, you may have a worn jet. One other curiosity, the 'Coleman' logo on the tank looks unique to this stove. Can you tell if it has been repainted or original. It looks like the logo style that shows up in many Coleman advertisements. I've not actually seen one on a No.1 but may have seen one on a later stove, like a No. 9. The usual logo is a painted stencil font, like you see in Flivver's No. 1: sam
Hi Sam; I would say it is hand painted. Worn jets are unheard of on these stoves, and yes new fuel will turn those flames a beautiful blue. Hey fellas. My name is Dennis. The Logo appears to be hand painted. The tank has just been primed for repaint. To save the logo I applied a plastic film....think of a heavy gauge plastic wrap with a super light adhesive on one side. I covered the logo with it then used a razor to cut off the exess so only the lettering was covered. When prime and paint are done, I will remove the film and use a gold leaf paint pen to touch up the logo. Should be a straight up job. When thats done, Ill clear coat it, same as the outer case. Inside will all be flat black VHT. Here are a couple process pics. Please comment and give me the benefit of your experience. I sure do get a lot out of this kind of work.
I like the hand-painted logo. It makes the stove interesting and unique. I wouldn't change a thing. sam
