    Hi Tony, great fettle. What a powerful flame pattern, what is the aperture diameter of the jet?

    You might wish to consider adding indents, or serrations, to the top surface of the legs. I use a sharp cold chisel and a heavy hammer to make a series of these, using an angled blow to create a depression and raised ridge. The ridge pattern adds grip when you have a pot or kettle on the stove, and makes spills less likely.

    Although the new legs shown in the link below are Al. rather than SS, there are some close-ups of the serrations I have made:

    @kerophile

    Yes! The serrations are next!

    I have not measured the jet, but by the looks, with the naked eye, its 0.32, not 0.23. I will check tomorrow after the weather here calms down a bit.

    Cheers

    Looks fantastic Tony!

    That shot from under the kettle is brilliant!

    If I was dyslexic I give you an "anding stovation"!!! (Apologies to any dyslexics who might be watching!)

    Thanks @kerophile
    @Tony Press has also given me some practical tips on NRV fettling!

    I'll try and put this to use very soon!

    Can believe the jet measurements - it's running with a rich mixture and so yellow flame.
    Not a problem if you don't mind rather blackened pots and probably some smell from burning.
    Next decision is whether to peen the jet or fit a needle insert a la @presscall

    @JonD

    The first photo is the stove going at full blast. When I put the kettle on the flame lost its yellow. There was no soot on the pot after boiling, either.

    The problem with peening or @presscall-ing the lipstick is that I (and believe me I've tried!) cat get the burner bell off the lipstick. No amount of heating and quenching twisting and tapping will get the bastard to move :rage:](*,).

    I'll just keep using it and it may come free eventually.

    Cheers

    Tony

    I sympathise with you. I was in the same fix a while back.
    Get it hot enough in the right place (at the taper join on the bell) and it will shift but hot means hot.

    The 96 leg through the bell is used to twist and pull in encouragement.
    Torch in one hand leg in the other.
