I've got an unfired "Lil' Injun" coil burner. I'm not going to fire it. It's the same size as a 123 and I can't see it being more user friendly.
Collectablity and usability are different things. I bet somewhere someone has an Edsel in their private collection. Bet they never use it though.
Stoves that I have bought that were not worth the money. -Burmos stoves - always has the lead washer missing from nrv, tube often cracked. -Anything with a check valve. I don't have a good tool for these, so I guess I could solve my problems here easily enough. -Sigg fire jet, the power of an 8R, with the bulk of a remote stove. -Primus Varifuel, hard to prick and blocks often. -And the worst of them all the Optimus trapper, early model with no overfill prevention plug.
Don't know why but I just can't get on with 8Rs. Fettled, sworn and sacrificed numerous animals and rattled bones, the buggers just don't work and are now sitting glowering at me in the garage. They can stay there.
Here, I've no love for the damn Coleman suitcase stoves, common as cow chips, and work like them, too! I've lost more hair off my knuckles lighting those damn things, only real way to light one is the UK way, splash of spirits on top of the burner, light it like a pre-heat, and then open the valves to fire 'er up! Had one that pissed me off for the last time, took it out, lit it up, walked off 100 yards, and took a .308 Win bolt action to it. It was spectacular, to put it mildly!
A bit extreme Murph! But then I had a cell phone drove me to put it in the microwave at full power. No more troubles after that - definitely will never work again and I will never have to try and fix it one last time. (And no the battery was not on it!)
