Just an introduction to my newly restored Radius 21. It looked very bad, so no question about polishing or not, the brass will soon get a more mellow tone all by itself. I'm quite happy with the tin, as it was badly rusted. I used Oxalic acid which attacks rust but not iron or paint. The supports and the windscreen was painted with oven spray paint, that can withstand more than 500C. The old pump gasket was disintegrating but luckily, there was a new one in the tin. I had to tighten the burner on the tank rather tightly. Does anyone know which gasket I should be looking for and even better, have a link? I don't really collect stoves but seeing a cheap stove in a sorry state, I couldn't resist :-) And it works!!
@pbekkerh Thank you for posting. There are two washers in the burner setup - one fibre washer between the burner and the preheater spirit cup; the other is lead and goes in the base of the burner riser. Thank You. Well if its lead, it's no wonder it has to be tightened a bit and as long as it's all there, it can't really break, so I guess I'm alright.
Something is there but how to get it out eventually? Do you know a link for a new one or have the measurements for it?
You can remove the old one with a dental pick or a curved canvas-sewing needle. "The Fettle Box" (link on home page) has washers. Cheers Tony
