Here is my latest acquisition. Found in a sorry dirty state but complete apart from missing one pot stand. It has been stripped, overhauled and a new brass bolt soldered on the tank end which has made it more solid when assembled. I have shown in one picture the brass cap which is retained in the frame and used to cap off one burner if it fails and the other burner can still be used. Has anyone a spare pot stand for sale please to complete the stove.
@plumberted That's a fine restoration. I hope you can get your hands on a trivet for the second burner. Cheers Tony
Very nice restoration indeed, the 535 is a lovely double burner/range stove. I was very lucky to find one a few years ago at a auto jumble at a steam fair for only £3.00, but both inner and outer burner caps were missing and both spirit cup feed tubes and pan support's all parts were sourced and the feed tubes i made but i have two non original supports donated by a kind member, they work fine but i would like to someday find a set of original's the speckled enamelled look fantastic. well done there.
@plumberted , what a joy to the eye! This is my favourite model. NOS pan rings (of later Optimus make) for this stove are still available in places, like Base-Camp UK and Fogas in Sweden. I got mine from Sweden. They are lighter green and surface quality is a bit more matt compared to the originals so they should be purchased as a pair for a matched appearance.
They are a lovely stove to use. Enjoy! I have 2 and the other is missing a pot support like yours. I'm going to check out @Kalle 's suggestion at Basecamp. Cheers. B.
They are a nice stove Have a NIB one here lit twice now just to see it operate not cook . Notice its also missing the grate clips to stops them from falling out etc . Bob .
Here is an update pic of the 535. I have bought 2 pan stands from Base Camp which are more green than the original but a matching pair and now the stove looks great.The one original I have is a mottled grey and is now surplus to requirements. Anybody need one?
@plumberted , nice job. One question, has the tank been media-blasted? It has an odd surface finish. Alec.
Hi, The tank has only been sprayed with gold paint to make it more presentable as there were some scratches on it and it looked a bit scruffy. Ted.
@plumberted, Your stove looks now really nice! I think painting the tank was not a bad idea. I noticed all of my 535 tanks had tarnished remains of a sort of gold coloured coating. Based on owner history on one of the stoves I am quite sure the coating was original.
