Heads up - Stove of the Month competition February 2019

Next month we'll be trying something new here on CCS. If it's well received it may become a regular feature.

A themed competition of sorts but it's a bit of fun & incentive to get those old stoves showcased. February's theme will be '96' sized stoves with lipstick burners.

Conditions & info

1: One entry per member

2: Stove must be presently owned by the member

3: Stove must feature in the Stove Reference Gallery (SRG) with a link posted in the entry. So now's the time to get those stoves photographed & posted! If it's been listed for years already that is ok too.

4: Maximum of 2 pictures in the entry. One must show the stove working. More pictures can of course be shown in the linked SRG entry - as many as you want!

5: Maximum of 20 entries - so it's not too hard for the judges (the CCS community)!

6: The nominations will be open for the month of February. At the end of the month the post will be closed & the featured stoves placed in a blind poll for members to vote for. The poll will remain open for 1 week. Most votes is the winner.

7: The winner will get a Stove of the Month (SOFM) Winner notation on their posts

8: If this takes off & is repeated sufficient times throughout the year all winners will be entered into a Stove of the Year poll in January 2020. The winner will get a SOTY notation on their posts

9: Fettlebox will provide a £10 voucher code for SOTM winners & £15 voucher for SOTY winners for use on the Fettlebox online store.

Damn, I'll have to get one working arent I. Or at least the one I'm thinking of. Still haven't got the filler cap off yet.

I only have a couple, neither is too unique. The challenge might be sorting only 20 entries. I am hoping to see some great examples.

Making it a regular feature is a good idea. That will give others a chance after Duane wins it the first 20 times.

Glad you like the plan. The idea is to change the theme every month - maybe by country, fuel type, size, brand, design & sometimes no theme at all.

 

Reading the rules it does not have to be a 96 as long as it’s that size with a lippy.

 

I have a fair collection of half-pinters. Hmm, which to choose.....

Nice. I really like the idea of the narrow categories.
It is going to be quite interesting to see what this brings out in terms of preferences and creativity.
Likewise, what is it that catches the attention of the voters?

 

I presume Monitor 17B's qualify.....

Hi Ross, A good idea that should stimulate a lot of interest. I will need to heat the workshop & make a start. Will
modifications be considered, no primus case ? Optimust.

 

As long as it fits the theme for the given month, entries are valid. It's then down to the members to vote.

 

No,no,no,no,no this is a bad idea. First you start with 96's and I think " hmm nice stoves,I want one" then before I get my 96 you move on to the next stove and I think" Oh, I need one of those" now we move onto Russian clones " I want one of these". I don't have that kind of budget. Your killing me!

PS I just broke my vow not to post from my phone at work already. Not even one day!
