Sitting in the woods, making a cup of coffee with my wife ..... Classic is a great word. You would have been welcome and loved it. We were sitting on a ridgeline overlooking the national park. Small remnants of snow still in the shadows.
@The Warrior Saw your pics of your Primus 71 - The top of the the burner is supposed to sit like this - Yours looks like its a shorter version - But your pics might trick me here.
I don't have it sitting inside the tin, just took it out, lit it up, and snapped a few crappy photos, haha.
Today. Walked further, feeling better, losing weight. Mt Hagen instant coffee, RxBars, cashews, dried pears, and chickpea miso soup. Ken
I like your fire kit. Do you use charcloth to catch the spark or fungus? Is that a telescoping blow pipe in the background? Inquiring minds want to know.
Putting the kit together. Charcloth on flint, held with my thumb, strike to catch spark on charcloth. Transfer that to bundle. Pocket Bellows, the original. Creeks running very well. We have had a lot of rain, but it does not rain every day here. When it rains it rains hard. @presscall Note the Snow Peak pot with the Bush Buddy Ultra stove.
Primus No 2. The reason for posting this is that it’s taken me a day and a half to locate A pin hole in the underside of the burner and the use of about 5 brazing rods dozens of tests etc etc. The leak only showed when the stove was running, tried dunk tests, filling it with meths etc etc. but nothing! Only when hot and under pressure could I see a small jet of flame, the stove Ran ok but is better now thank god it’s sorted I was going crazy!
@nmp Triumphant firing is justified. @snwcmpr Bushbuddy Ultra and Snow Peak pot. Perfection! Nice work Ken. Inspires me to get out with mine, once Storms Ciara and Dennis are out of the way.
I am just getting that kit together. Here is what I have so far. The Coghlans saw is surprisingly good for small to medium wood. There is room to add dried bundle as I collect it. Ken
Not going to dry out round here for a while yet. The forecast for the next couple of weeks does not look promising. Maybe not storm force but the wind and rain don’t appear to die down for very long before they’re back. Regards John
I too enjoy using flint strikers. I have a few, and also, the Pocket Bellows are awesome. Keep one in my backpack, and one at my cabin.
Thanks man. Here's a few of my strikers: ESEE striker with Pocket Bellows and my kit: My first, and I gifted it to someone. Kinda miss it: My fire pistons: Just got this one a few months back:
