I don't see the mitigation in packing - as an A4 still will take up the same amount of space no matter how it is used (you cant stove an A4 in the smaller pots). The Jetboil and its siblings is already out there, and you can stove the gas-canister inside the pot - so in total very little waste-space...
I see those bases well covered....

For a person who would otherwise use an epigas style squat cp230 threaded cartridge, the A4 is the more-or less the same amount of gas for 1/3 to 1/4 the price..... if only there was a lightweight stove (eg similarto the rando that would take it) as the flat suitcase stoves are too heavy for most cyclecampers/hikers.

Most people don't use enough camp fuel for cost to enter into the equation.

No, just a larger (i.e. scaled up) but similar design to the Rando stove but taking A4 canisters directly :) rather than obsolete small 360 canisters.

    Thanks.
I thought ordinary mortals/the masses would prefer something with a big brand-name behind it for peace of mind) And available in ordinary retail shops .

I have seen those chinese tripod adaptors on ebay but am a dubious about the connector and quality: if a UK/UE company like gogas was prepared to stand behind something similar then OK
(is it the BSI or EU that does any portable gas appliance approving now I wonder)?

I suppose for the kovea adaptor for epi-threaded to bayonets, kovea count as a big company, but it is another seal and a hose.

Thats, interesting, I've never seen one before but why have they angled it so as you can't see if it has a safety on-off at the cannister connection. Surely Kovea wouldn't skip that, it would make Dr Roger Caffin unhappy I think. I think

    Google my man, google.

I wasn't able to find one for sale in the USA, but what I did find in other countries suggests a ~$40 retail price, or more than most people will spend on camp fuel in several years. You'd have to use a TON of fuel to make that worth messing with, especially when an option like this is around:

2pcs Propane Refill Adapter Outdoor Hiking Gas Cylinder Tank Camp Stove Butane | eBay

Only a couple refills and you've broken even on that one.

It probably doesn't have any control at the can connection. It is effectively the connector Harder linked with a fitted hose. you can stop the gas flow by disconnecting the can. Otherwise the only control is at the burner. Gas doesn't come through when the burner is disconnected as the burner connector has a sprung ball which seals it. The pin in the burner pushes it down as it screws on.
I have one like this which has a flimsy-looking but serviceable connector.

The response to a question on another forum, meant I thought there was small possibility a small amount of liquid gas would come out if you just disengage the connector, then expands 250 times,,,,

Also, Roger Caffin likes both an safety on/off at the cannister as well as the burner control for his own ultralightweight remote stoves.

    @TRA_A
To be honest - what is your exact question? - what would be the endstate for you - something you can’t figure out or find yourself?
This is absolutely not meant in any offensive way - but every time you ask about something - quite a lot in here spend time at the best of their (and mine) ability - to answer you —> but you never seems satisfied, instead you just drift of in another direction with comments like:
“The response to a question on another Forum meant I thought....”
    What question on which forum??
How is that question relevant in this forum - in this thread???
    Or
“I thought ordinary mortals/the masses would prefer something with a big brand-name”
    Or
“It would make dr. Roger Caffin unhappy”
    or....
    “Roger Caffin likes both....”
Well, who is he? - and why is his opinion on the amount of safetymeasures on UL stoves relevant at all in a RANDO 360-thread???

    1) I wasn't asking a question to build / modify my own stoves, more wondering about future commercial stoves given 206 canisters have become more expensive due to gaining a sort of backup safety valve. Many People going low cost summer car camping I suspect pick flat A4 stoves because they are both cheap to buy and cheap to run, if they move on to "own motive power" camping such as summer cycling or backpacking, why wouldn't they want to stay with the easily and widely available and cheap A4 carts: so I wondered with the probable and intended fading out of 206 canisters due to the new rules, perhaps a manufacturer might make a lightweight flat A4 stove: essentially a scaled up Rando design. I thought many ordinary (non-stovie) persons will prefer buying a branded A4 stove not some sort of adaptor on fleabay.

I.e. I thought the fading of the 206 might make way for a sort giant Rando but with a A4 canister....

Nothing complicated being asked other than comments on its likelyness :)

If I get a response which isn't really the answer to what was trying to say then I respond to it to say why. I may respond to comment on a posted product as well, even it was not what I intended to ask about. :)

    2) Roger Caffin is a research scientist who is backpackinglight.com's online editor, and has made his own ultralight gas stoves almost from scratch. He also designed his own connection that copes with both CampingGaz threadless and Epi-style threaded and described in backpacking light articles, along with other gas related articles.

I found his gas posts/articles interesting especially with his science knowledge and attention to detail (I think his CO testing of an MSR radiant stove prompted them to recall it for mods):

I think it's unlikely that any manufacturer will develop and produce an A4 Rando clone when not only are the fittings available for those who want to make such a thing up, but the Uno stove format has stood the test of time over the last 20yrs or so. Ok, so the Uno's a bit chunky for cycle- and backpacking but there are so many viable stove and fuel alternatives out there that producing another would hardly be worth the effort.

That's the beauty of the old classic's. You don't have to take them backpacking to enjoy them! With my large collection of stoves I'm happy to just have a couple to choice from for the hill.

Oh well, I shall not take up a post as a prophet then :)

perhaps some uk/eu company might make/commission a UK/CE approved version of the tripod can-top adaptor eBay link
you posted above, but I shall not bet on it :)

which leaves the valved and branded Kovea: MercatorGear - KOVEA butane adapter which is already available and a known brand.
