I have just bought 2 from army disposal, both seem in good condition, a quick check not taking pressure.

If i take the pump out and soak in oil would that sort the issue, i know i can buy a set for the pump.

Looking at the pump screw for a better description there are 2 notches, is there a spanner for this?

    Thanks in advance IMG_20220316_135037.jpg IMG_20220316_135044.jpg

Nice pair you have there and with the cook/storage case to boot.. Not aware of a spanner ever being issued with stoves to remove pump. Most can be remove by hand with CCW twist, but some might need gentle grab with pliers. Most with the black plastic retainer have the thin rubber cup. If rubber cup is not split it can be gently flared open and made useable. Oil it up and give it a try. Can replace with rubber or leather. Once you can built pressure check for O ring leaks from red tipped on/off valve. Plenty of folks & info on this site to help. Daryl SoCal

Many thanks, that sounds some good advice, I only managed to get have a good look today.
Will get home and have a look at one and soak the part with oil first if no split, no idea how long in storage so going carefully

@Surveyor Often a good grip with fingers works, but if not, the tips of needle nosed pliers in the notches. Or, as Daryl has said, grip the extending plastic sides.

I've used a soak in alcohol to expand the rubber.

Help please, I have stripped one pump down, gentle teased the rubber ring and oiled the valve, Pumping i can feel air going out of the hole in the middle of the pump but when i open the valve for fuel no hissing of air escaping.
Am i am missing something, the rod going into the chamber was loose and tightened it for second check.

    Thanks in advance

    Richard

Yeah, you’ve got to place your thumb over the hole in the pump knob on pump strokes, having unscrewed the check valve rod a turn. Pumping completed, screw up (but not massively tight) the check valve rod.

    @Surveyor
Hello . I have just bought the exact same type of stove.
    My first Coleman !
I replaced that black hard plasticky cup with a standard Primus-type pump leather I had in my used parts box . Bit of oil and it makes pressure.
I just followed the instructions we have in the link above and the stove fired up .
I carried out the whole procedure outdoors however . In the neighbours garden in fact , they are out . No point in taking the chance of burning your own house down !

I am sure I will get used to this type of stove but at the moment I am very wary of it . Takes ages to get the thing to extinguish !
    Good luck - Alastair

Spent all my summers on the camp site in St Monance ( as it was spelled then ) so I knew the way from Elie to Cellardyke pretty well.

Aye like Anst-ruther = Ainster . It was different in the late 60’s . Millers Yard in St. Monance was still open . I was at a launch there , the whole village celebrated . Arthurs Chip Shop and Guthries the bakers were the cultural centre for a wee boy ! I had my first ever pint in The Cabin . It where I think about when I hear The Beatles

Don't know the chippie, but Guthrie on Miller Street, go in the back door of the bakery and get a hot pie for lunch.
Yes the yard was still working when I was covering the area, can't remember when it shut down
