I got this stove a few days ago,The tank base have a number ‘6’,aslo I have been seem tank base with mumber'5'.From 1911 Primus paraffin stoves are stamped with a letter code.what's the meaming of the numbers at the tank base ？ 5——1905？ 6——1906？ Many thanks to all the imformantions about the stove from yous.
Welcome Jason, That is an interesting stove and very well presented for the site, thank you. The 6 on bottom is not the year but it might be a 1906 or close to it. Initially I'll guess 1898 - 1910 but that can probably be narrowed more. I expect @igh371 Ian will be interested to see this rare example as it seems to be a match to this one, Russian market pre-1911 Primus No.1 , he posted in 2017. His does not have approx. year attached either. Your pump is one of the clues The Russian lettering stamped into the tank is notable (vs a plate added after production, more common). Thanks again.
This form came after "Bade shield" and was before "Mulilingual side tank inscriptions" - on russian area product. earliest No 6 was with "Bade shields" when changes was done.... for today - i think circa 1903 Is "Bade shield" most common.... i say No - thats impression is created by collectors - (here).
@jasonwu I agree very much with @OMC's comments above and can only narrow the probable date range a very little. 'AKT.BOL.' in the various inscriptions means the stove cannot be older than 1899 as that was the year of the incorporation of B.A.Hjorth's company. And at the other end of the date range the old style pump rod assembly should mean that it won't be any younger than c.1908; so 1899-1908 window. The Russian market inscription makes it more interesting than normal too Ian
