I picked up this stove recently. I saw one that @Tony Press posted earlier and the letters with the year are interesting. Hopefully if a few more turn up we may figure out what the letter means. Iain
Hi, I believe that this stove is British-made, probably by Monitor. 1. The lettering and numbering on the side of the tank looks almost identical in form and content to a Monitor stove from this time period. 2. The curve at the top of the stove legs appears very “open” compared with other stoves. This form of leg was used on some Monitor stove models. 3. The filler cap and air-screw also look to be of a Monitor form. 4. The lettering on the tank top is also of a type used on some Monitor models. Best Regards, Kerophile.
@kerophile I like your thoughts on the possible manufacturer of these McCaul stoves. McCaul appeared to be retailers so makes sense someone else manufactured these. Thanks kindly for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated. Iain
Glad to see it looking so nice and that it has found a good home. McCaul where wholesalers of food items so it seems reasonable to supply stoves as well. I agree with the suggested manufacturing at the Monitor factory.
