    Didn't the Optimus 8 have a cleaning needle like on the 8R?

    No, the 8 had to be manually pricked.

    Looks like chrome to me but I’m no expert. Is there an easy way to tell the difference?

    The Svea 123 and Optimus 8 needed to be pricked manually.
    The Svea 123R and Optimus 8R both had internal prickers.

    Very nice. Looking forward to seeing how the bead blast and repaint of the case goes. Before and after pictures can be very satisfying. Good luck!
