To shut off the Whisperlite the manual asks for turning off the valve and waiting for the fuel line to empty. No flipping of the bottle. How is that suppose to work?
I remove the stove from the pump after the flame goes out then shake the fuel from the line. If your fuel bottle is low, you can turn the bottle upside down and wait while the stove runs to allow pressure to get released. Duane
I flipp the bottle on my XGK EX. If I dont do it I blow the "candle light/yellow flame" out so it do not generate more deposits of carbon.
I don't know if the normal Whisperlite is like the Whisperlite Universal but on the Universal the connector block can rotate a bit. I purge mine with air that way by rotating the bottle - a tiny bit of fuel remains in the braided wire inside the fuel line.
It isn't. The Whisperlite doesn't want to rotate, and the seal isn't replaceable. 99% of MSR users accept that there is a small loss of fuel at disconnection. The other 1% flip the whole stove where possible, or they own a Whisperlite Universal, or they wear out their seal. The factory design is a small amount of fuel leakage.
