Still no reasoning for no flame. Dunk test once again shows no leaks after using the nut suggested to clean threads up on the fuel bung. Stumped, I don't see any scratches or cracks. Will look at the inner area of the cap, although even another cap had same results. Duane
Yes, don't use taps to measure threads. Use taps to make threads after you verify the size of the thread.
15/32" 26tpi, Whitworth thread form. 3mm aluminium was tapped with the above, fit perfectly on the male thread as shown in photo. Searched for this specific tap on the internet and the only reference I could find was this thread so its either a special order or maybe just very rare. Hope this information proves useful to someone.

I came by it in a box of vintage BSB (British Standard Brass) taps and dies but it was an outlier and didn't fit with the others. Its a taper tap so I tried I to get a plug to match and also a die but came up with nothing. It's made by Leahman Archer Lane (a quality manufacturer) and might have been a special order for a specific job. I only recently remembered I had it and thought I'd try it out.
In my experience,the burner thread have two three rounds,I use 7/16-27 TPI,America standards unvisal degrees 60 ,100% fit, 28 TPI can use too.the thread only connect,not worry about fuel leak.
Hello. I - got taps 7/16 x27, cut the thread and it - did not fit. The diameter of the outer ring of the thread is 11.2 mm. Comparable in diameter to a 11x1 thread. Too small. Please help me find options. Respectfully to all
Please post the stove photo,let’s make sure what’s the country made,too many factory clone the Optimus 8R,the 7/16 taps fit Sweden 8R only.
I have four Optimus in my collection. On all - the diameter of the external thread is + ~ the same 11-11.3 mm. Diameter, internal thread of the bushing - 10.3 mm. , threading, tap 7/16 x 27.
I tried a 7/16-26 and it did not work on two different 123r's and two different 8r's...much to my disappointment.
@mirumir did you find a working tap in the end? I have also tried 7/16" 26 TPI (both 55 and 60deg) and its too small. Used a Y letter drill bit, which is correct for a 7/16" tap, but too snug for the thread. I have a 15/32" 24 TPI tap coming as I couldn't find a 15/32" 26 to order. Drill size will be 7/16, so larger than Y. Hoping it will be a better fit. My thread gauge actually sits more comfortably on the burner threads at 24 TPI, which would fit with what @Lennart F shared earlier in the discussion. Interested if you got something to work?
