I received this iconic stove as part of a collector's exchange. ( Thanks @Nicola Francesco Elia ) I must admit that I have dreamed of owning one for a long time. It is an early model of the Optimus 8. I drew this conclusion by suggesting the embossed patent number on the case, the type of filler cap with SRV and the reinforced support brackets in the case. A couple of photos in all their glory. Before firing, I merely replaced the filler cap gasket And the SRV pad. It lit up nicely. Thanks for your attention. Stanisław
Wonderful, my favourite Optimus product! I like the simplicity of the 8's and all the lettering embossed on the tin. A great example, well used but no bad damage and burning well.
@Knee great! As often happens on these versions and as you can see on the internal part of the top lid, the fitting to store the key and cleaning needles was missing. A fix you can maybe think about Nicola
Thanks @Blackdog . Thanks @Nicola Francesco Elia . It's true. There are a several of such examples in the gallery here with a similar problem. There are also some interesting ideas for making such a clip. I will look around for a suitable clip.
Anyway, this metal green and the lighter aluminum edition are my favorite 8 stoves This in particular returns a very solid and durable feeling. Nicola
@Robert Radcliffe I envy. In my country it is difficult to find 8, 8R. For that, PT1 clones abound. ( I have many)
@Knee well at least the PT1 is a good clone. Incidentally I've found French ebay a good source of older Optimus 8 versions in the past.
Ahahah I didn’t even know about the re-enforced sockets… just checked my other green 8 and is normal type… Good catch @Knee ! Ahah Nicola
Hi @Knee, what lovely example and with a plaited tank, no matter what the older versions of stoves are so much nice than later versions , well done @Knee and @Nicola Francesco Elia on the deal
A small magnet (I salvaged one from an old-style Sonicare toothbrush head) on the outside top of the case will secure the small spanner to the inside. Basil
@bbsteinle . Well, yes! You reminded me of that. I have used a magnet before. I think I have sclerosis....
