A roarer burner vs silent burner.
WLU is tough enough and also easy to disassemble.

I know nothing about Chinese clone stoves.

Most probably problem is between hose attachment and jet. In Omnilite (& Omnifuel) fuel is boiled/evaporated in chamber that is under the jet and burner end of the fuel tube where the control spindle is. Therefore possible carbon particles are formed on those places. (Also there might be some dirt/particles left from the manufacturing since stove is quite new)
Have you tried to clean fuel tube without control spindle and jet?

Remove jet and control spindle and flush fuel tube with carburetor cleaner by blowing carburetor cleaner from fuel tube to jet direction and from jet to fuel tube direction. That should remove loose particles from fuel tube. Inside/under side of jet could be checked & cleaned also.

When control spindle is removed similar type of braided steel wire as MSR stoves has can be pushed into fuel tube to mechanically remove any loose particles (and then flushed with carburetor cleaner).

The WLU has other bits that increase damage risk (e.g. use of different pump and gas canister attachments that get swapped).

The burner design like a shower results in quiet but that is essentially uncleanable. The inside can build up soot/coke, or get filled with dirt. So failure unlikely but not zero.

The fuel line is narrower and has a smaller cleaning cable. This means it clogs faster when fed the same fuel.

The XGK design is built (originally) to be a bomb-proof safety item in mountaineering. Every part of the stove is replaceable. And it can be broken down in the field and every part fully cleaned.

The roarer design is so the jet can be cleaned, removed, the flame plate can be replaced or even DIYed out of a sheet of steel.

Don't get me wrong- I own and use a Whisperlite International. But I also own and use (though less often) an old X-GK. If wandering the globe I would not hesitate to chose the X-GK. If hiking in Oz I carry the WPLI or a Dragonfly.

The Dragonfly (which is based on the 1980s X-GK) came to me damaged from overheating- flame plate melted, brazing melted, a collection of disconnected parts. It hums (ok, roars) quite nicely now after repair with 4 small pieces of wire and an expedition service kit. That kind of functional repair is not available if your Whisperlite dies of underburn.

Burning fine until being clogged in the middle of cooking sounds like a dirty filter - the modern Primus and Optimus multifuel stoves has a filter on the fuel pickup on the pump that needs replacement periodically if the fuel isn't completely clean - some versions could have a filter in the threaded connection between fuel hose and burner valve too.
MSR canister capable multifuels have the last name "universal" - U last in the model name abbreviation.
It is always possible to make a canister connection for a multifuel and that makes it work fine on canister gas - but recent Primus and Optimus use Lindal connection for the pump so they are always canister ready.

At least Omnifuel has filter in pump's pickup tube and in the threaded fuel hose connection. If those are blocked they will cause really bizarre problems. One time my Omnifuel worked only with VERY low pressure and stopped working if I pumped any more pressure. It didn't made any sense at all ](*,). I removed and cleaned all parts and same symptom was there. Finally I removed both fuel filters and got stove running.

I hope you are joking...I put the Harley Davidson argument forward...loud, noisy and slow.

On the Omnilite...someone else here nailed it...filters.

I would say to the O.P. make your Omnilite work properly before getting another stove...use clean fuel too. Shellite is expensive but clean. Kerosene is also very clean. Automotive fuel is a mixed bag and to be avoided while you are troubleshooting. Kero is half the price of Shellite in Australia and I burn it in my Dragonfly and my Optimus Nova with excellent results. Shellite burns fine in my Muka, Nova and Dragonfly. Kerosene may not burn as well in your Omnilite but is worth trying.
