I'd been eyeing these mods for the No.12 on UK ebay for sometime, but was put off by the auction rather than buy it now listing.
The seller listed a lower priced cap, with some brazing marks, and that was enough to convince me to put in an offer, which was accepted.
I was already running my No12 using the first generation Taiwanese cap (the good one) but this is large mass of brass that takes a double preheat, at least. The SMS cap was designed to preheat as easily as the roarer. This proved to be the case. The cap provides slightly faster boil times than the roarer and simmers really well.
The idea behind the design of the pot rack is to lift the pots about 1cm higher and to allow the flame to spread more evenly by having radial supports. The height and design of the original pot rack, with the circular support, tends to restrict and concentrate the flame centrally. Not great for cooking.

Nice flame. In the past I had wanted one of these stoves, but never sure if one was complete with all parts, tools. Never asked anyone to point out a complete one to me to buy. Too many stoves now that gather dust.

    Hi
I too bought the silent cap from SMS for my No.12 and was really pleased with its all-round performance.
As you can see, IMG_4175.jpeg I have also bought and fitted the gauge and Schrader valve from SMS so I can use either one of my bicycle pumps or if I am feeling particularly lazy, my cordless tyre pressure pump to keep the stove ticking over so to speak. Works really well and highly recommended. The No.12 is a cracking stove for sure. Phil.

@Pharael I'd consider the pot rack as another addition for sure.
I fitted a schrader valve to my Heinze Geniol, that thing takes some serious pumping.

Full tank is easier... but still a lot of pumping.

Designed to keep the enlisted man busy?

    Hi Robert
I didn’t realise until I saw your pot rack that this was available from SMS - and so I will most definitely be buying one.

And as for the Heinze Geniol…I could not agree more!

IMG_3936.jpeg For my HG stove, I also added a wind shield from this seller which works really well…

I use a Czech Army gas mask bag to keep my HG stove in which is strong enough to be able to carry the stove as well. Out of stock at the moment though. VINTAGE CZECH ARMY M85 PVC GAS MASK BAG / SHOULDER BAG / BREAD BAG | eBay

@Pharael we clearly agree on several things. I've also added the windshield to the Heinze and both my No12 and HG are in the same bags.....
