Surprise from the wife... When I got my 1944 Primus 97 it didn't burn exactly straight and thought maybe it was a bad jet in the lipstick... But just cleaned it and ran it for a few coffee pots and it cleared up just fine. I guess I talk out loud so my wife caught enough of my complaints and googled it... "Replacement lipstick burner for a 96" and found this in all places... Korea.
Just had a box arrive... Her name on it
.. Thought it was makeup or something... It was for my new stove!

Looks great. I like that the jet is recessed and concave

Not too expensive but not cheap... Going to try it out tomorrow then keep it around as a spare since new lipstick burners are hard to come by

Look what I found on Etsy: Lipstick (burner Tube, Vaporizing Tube) of Primus 96, 97, Optimus 96, Radius 19, 20 Stove - Etsy

I too was worried about damaging the lipstick with overzealous peening. Got a Korean substitute (It has a replaceable jet). Then I peened the original carefully with a drill bit inside and got it to work perfectly. Now the Korean substitute also works OK. But has some cotton fiber inside rather than brass mesh. Thoughts? I've bought a few overseas burners and have rounded up a few new, original Swedish burners too. Takes some looking.

I've only fixed one burner so far with the hypodermic needle fix.

@hikerduane I'm curious to try to fix one but I have never tried it and don't want to ruin it

Ruin it? That’s the only way to learn. Try it, I did and came up good.

I’ve mostly peened my lipsticks, not a 100% fix each try or burner. Since I have so many stoves, not even close to ever worry about needing another fix.

@Pancholoco1911 Well lucky me so far I have not come across a bad one. I thought one was but just was patient and ran it a few times and some crap that didnt come out with a pricker finally cleared out and it burns blue and straight.
I would like to find one though so I can try it.

@hikerduane by my understanding is that a round topped drill bit is what is used. I have read about it!

I use a ground down stove bolt inserted inside the burner, than tapped with a hammer, trying to keep all parts centered and vertical.

@hikerduane interesting. I am now looking for a donor lipstick to try this on. This seems in my skillset. I am always curious that the needle does not melt.

@Yannick Michel It works fine. The end where the jet is has a dimple to which I think helps make the flame uniform. Also fit my hardware when testing it on a primus 96, but i have heard some burner bells are not uniform and fit a little loose. I would definity use them without hesitation, just keep in mind that mine did not come with a brass screen inside. So I had to pack it myself. No biggie though

@Remus1956 Ok ! I’ve just ordered one. On the photos we can see the brass mesh inside. I will tell you when I receive it. Thank you for your quick and informative replies.

@Remus1956 oh . So may be no mesh in it… I read somewhere whize size of mesh is suitable but can’t remember.
