I have an Optimus 00 without the original jet nipple. Generic jet nipples from eBay just keep turning when I try to put them in. Is the a difference in thread size, or did I strip the threads in the nipple seat? If the Optimus 00 does indeed use its very own jet nipple size, does anyone have an idea on where to get a new jet?
If you buy a standard nipple for a Swedish stove it should fit. Fogas.se will have them. If the receiving thread is ruined you will need the tapered nipple. Cheers Tony
It sounds as this is the problem here, ruined (enlarged) threads. Maybe Fogas can help with a tapered nipple.
The odd thing is that I had it running reasonably well (although the stream of fuel came out of the jet at a slight angle). I must have gotten the jet nipple screwed in at an angle the first time. I don't think that I stripped the threads, because it was running, then I unscrewed the jet, screwed it back in without using excessive force, and it simply didn't engage the threads properly anymore. I find it odd that basecamp.co.uk has a jet listed for specific Optimus stoves. Could it be that some of the models use non-standard threads? Optimus Spares Price List Does anyone know a place where you can get a replacement burner for the 00? Edit: And I seem to be unable to find the tapered jet on fogas.se. Any help would be appreciated.
@radioactive_man I've bought quite a few jets from base camp UK. Just email him and ask him for a jet for that model. I just got a few in for 00 and a 210. Definitely has them
@radioactive_man The Basecamp parts list indicates parts for specific stoves according to the numbering on the exploded diagrams, thus the jet nipple is shown as part 2500. The description for that part no. is "Jet for stoves: 00, 1,5,45,48,210,510,100/4128 old #71" So the same jet fits all of those stoves. Scroll down one item in the numerical parts list and you will see 2500T - Tapered repair jet for stoves 00, 1, 5, 45, 48, 210, 510, 100/4128 old #71 Which is likely to be what you need and far less expensive than a new burner (assuming you could even find one). As the fitting list implies, there is nothing unique about the jet for the Opti 00.
… at the end of the day, if the nipple cannot engage at all, it can be permanently silbrazed in place. Tony
I know, and this is my fallback option. But my soldering skills suck so I don't imagine that my brazing skills are any better. I wrote basecamp about a repair jet. Let's see what they say.
