I think you guys are talking past each other a little bit, possibly illustrating the fact there are big differences between “anonymity” and “privacy”. Maybe there should be some overlap but it doesn’t work that way, at least not on the Information Highway. Definitely not interchangeable terms.

 

best way to get anonymity is steal someone elses id. By being someone else you are no longer you

 

And that is also the key.
I am pretty sure that anything created, has a back door. Not for the normal living beings but as a "safety valve".

But this is a normal forum for normal people. I already lift my eye brow when people try to be anonymous with all kind of user names. If you don't want to be identified as a lamp or stove collector which you are, then you have an other challenge.

Sorry to necropost, it seemed tidier than starting a new thread. Please could admin delete my account too. I looked everywhere for a setting to do it myself and couldn't find one! No problem with the forum at all, it's just not an ongoing interest of mine and I am trying to reduce my digital footprint. It doesn't sit right with me to just abandon accounts. I like to know they are closed and gone. Best wishes to all
