I have had a Sigg tourist kit for my Coleman 400 for several years, and was wanting the windscreen set up for my Svea 123. A local auction site was advertising exactly what I needed, the 2 lower windscreen sections, plus what they said was a grungy Optimus 123. I didn't need another 123, but for $30 total I figured what the heck, I could tell the Wife that for $30 I got what I needed and they threw in an old stove to boot. I thought that would probably CYA, er, CmyA anyway. The seller was fairly close by, so I drove up to get it. The windscreen sections looked to be in good shape, although dirty. The stove, on the other hand, looked like a lump of coal....unbelievably filthy, almost hard to tell it was even a stove. I got home and started the cleaning process and the first thing I noticed was....WooHoo, no heat exchanger rings on the vaporizer! I thought at the very least I had gotten a very early Optimus 123! The Wife couldn't figure out what all the whooping was about, I tried to explain to her, she just did the Wife Eye Roll Thing and went back to reading her book.... I coated everything with ketchup (my go to Svea cleaning goo...) and let it set for about 20 minutes. As I was scrubbing I started to get really excited....I could see some engraving on the burner plate, bell, and fuel tank cap! Double WooHoo! This time the Wife decided to come see what all the excitement was about, I showed her....and still got the Wife Eye Roll Thing. So, for a mere pittance I had scored the windscreen I needed, plus a Sievert Svea 123! Now I'm getting to the reason for this long winded diatribe, I have some questions about the Sievert. The first question is: is this a normal position for the vaporizer? {EDIT} Well crap, it has been so long since I have posted here I don't remember how to put up pics. Can I upload directly from my laptop or do I have to host the pics somewhere? I feel so dumb sometimes... Mike
Click on the ‘Upload a File’ … …the following pop up will appear…click on ‘Photo Library’ which should then take you to where you pictures are stored on your laptop. Click on the pictures you want to upload… They will appear on your post like this… Would suggest you display your photos as ‘Full Image’. Therefore, click on the ‘Full Image’ button to then display them in your post. Congrats on a wonderful score! Pharael.
Ok, copy and paste seems to work, thank you snwcmpr! So this is what I'm talking about, the valve is almost 180* from the fuel cap. There are marks on the nut on the bottom of the vaporizer that looks like a vicegrip was used to tighten it, hopefully they didn't ruin the tank threads.... Also, is there a timeline on when the tank bottoms changed? The one on the left is the Sievert tank, the one on the right is my Optimus 123 that I bought in 1974. Here are a couple of gratuitous stove porn shots.... Thank you for any help provided.... Mike
