Can somebody show me how to place a fax order with base-camp.co.uk I see the order form but I am not used to sending fax overseas from Canada and am confused by the =, (0), "-" style of phone numbers used in the UK. Google adds to the confusion. Just want to know what exactly to dial. Thanks I hope this is allowed...
I know this does not answer your question, but as you made this post, I presume you have an email account. spares@base-camp.co.uk
Hi @Blueflame All I do is send them an email with the parts and quantities I would like to purchase. Also I include my paypal account name. They in turn check inventory and I get an email invoice from paypal listing items and cost. I log in to paypal, pay up and Basecamp sends it straight away.
Basecamp is a very, very small organisation (I think two part-time guys). No new technology but orders can be sent by snail-mail (post), fax or email.
I found it easiest to telephone them; not hard at all from the US. Then communication is full and easy. That's what I did when I bought the Manaslu 96 a year or so ago. My earlier purchases were many years back, of an Hipolito 1 and Monitor C11 back when Mike had them. Nice folks there.
I used to camp near Littlehampton once a year and would pop in to say Hi to Mike and pick up bits and pieces I needed. His premises is (were) and old hairdressers shop just off the high street. Probably on streetview.
To answer the original question. When phoning or faxing from outside the UK. Dial your country's international access code followed by the UK code (which is 44) and then the number without the first 0. So base-camp from Canada would be 011 44 1903 723853 whether you phone or Fax. If you do decide to phone please note that they only take phone calls on weekday afternoons. (12 til 6 UK time Monday to Friday). Regards John
Thanks for the info, I've only faxed orders in, emailed a order last night, got a reply back today. Much more convenient than a fax. I had been holding off ordering since it was a pita to fax. Duane
