    Hi,

A quiet night tonight here in NZ SWMBO is off to 'book club' (secret code for wine appreciation)

The Children a sweetly snoozing and it's a lovely warm evening....

I thought I'd take some photos for the delectation of CCS....

    DSCF2238.jpg
My M1950 which arrived the other day and my M1942 which arrived the other week...
I thought I'd try to set up a bit of a military background for the shots to set the theme so to speak..... yes a man with too much time on his hands...

    DSCF2239.jpg
The M1942 was was made by Prentice Webber in 1945.....

No wrench or clip on canister on this baby (if you can help PM me
    ;) )

    DSCF2242.jpg
Not a bad performance for an old un..

    DSCF2244.jpg
    Cherry Red for old Spudzy...

    DSCF2245.jpg
A Canteen cup fits nicely on the pot supports... This Canteen cup is the British 85 pattern teflon coated ..... It's the last thing I have left from my Army kit this and its associated water bottle...

    DSCF2246.jpg

    nice.....

    DSCF2247.jpg
Next to it's younger relation the M1950

    DSCF2248.jpg

Ah feel the glow... the M1950 throws off fire works as the soot it produces while priming combusts in the flame.. after its run for about 5 minutes it 'blues' up nicely...

    Hope you enjoy....

    Cheers

    John

Great photos John. So many have never seen the two so have no idea of the size or relationship between them as to design. The US canteen cup is much bigger and kind of a kidney shape so more unstable on the wings. There is a mountain troops (Ranger) cook kit which fits the M-1942 like it was made for it. Maybe it was :?: :?:    .

The cook kit was a squad issue item as the pots and pans are large enough to hold a whole meal from about half of a squads "C" ration tins. Of coarse in combat, you want at least half of your troops keeping the enemy pinned down right.

Yes i have one of these cook kits and will post a picture of same when i get time at home again. Should be right after Christmas.

  Did we already have a military burner photo shoot :?: :?: :?: If not wouldn't it be a great idea to have a shoot showing all of our military burners. No, a 111 of any ilk, not painted and used as a military stove does not qualify.

    Hi Lance,

Yes I have seen photos of the M1942 and M1950 on CCS before but never together....

I'm fortunate that I have managed to collect both stoves....

yes I know about this I think Doc Mark has one also. I'm envious ( only a little) As It would be a nice addition to the stove and a practical one to boot IIRC the M1942 fits inside the Mountain cook kit....

    Is this the cook kit???

Look cool... but if being a stovie teaches you anything it's that all good things come to pass.... So one will turn up...

    Cheers

Yes, the stove fits inside, lying down. The aluminium is rather thin, mostly used for heating up the 'Mountain Rations', which needed some cooking.

    Hey, Guys,

Yep, because of Brother Baja's kindness, I do have the Ranger cookset for my M1942! Thanks, again, Steve!! I have a couple of M1942, and even more M1950's, and like both stoves. However, push come to shove, I have to say I like the M1942 best, between the two. There's just "something about it" that tickles me, and I prefer it to the other one. But, both stoves are nice, and I'm glad to have a few of each. Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc
