I got a SVEA 123 some time ago at a thrift shop. This post assembly came with it. Any ideas what stove it goes to? It has "Made In Sweden" on the spindle. Ken in NC
It could be another burner for the Svea 123. I'm not too sure about the thread size, but it could go with a Primus 71, Radius 42, Optimus 80, if the thread is right. The burner looks well used, but the wick is new. The flame plate is missing. Yonadav

No other numbers or words than "Made In Sweden" Here are 2 more images. I brushed the hexes. NOTICE the 'rings' below the top, not on the 71 in the link. Also the 71 in the link doesn't have "Made In Sweden" on the spindle. I should have said that the SVEA I got was complete. This was in the bag with it. All for $10.00 US Ken in NC
I have identical burner shafts on one Svea 123, three Optimus 80's, and two Primus 71's, with the same rings and "Made in Sweden". A third Primus 71 and a Radius 42 have a different burner. Yonadav
Interesting, So, I may replace the shaft, on the 123, and try it. Assuming the thread is right. But, this may be more applicable to someones old stove. (???) Thanks, Ken in NC
That's the same as the burner assembly on my SVEA 123. I'm guessing they were used for a short while after their acquisition by Optimus, before the 123R was introduced?

So, I replaced the other (newer) shaft with this one, and I perceive it as burning better than the 'newer' one. It took a while to 'blow' out the tube, but after 5 minutes or so, it was burning even, very little pulsing. I ordered the kit from Optimus. Their kit has a gasket for the cap, which packstoves kit does not have. I don't believe I need to replace the pump cap, just the hard gasket. Thanks all, Ken in NC
Interesting. I usually associate those rings with a Svea 123R, but perhaps as has been suggested they were put in place for a while in the early Optimus years. HJ
Ah. The original SVEA 123. The better of the two IMHO. What is the material used in the wick? I had a very poor example in a Optimus 8R that fell apart on me. My solution was a length of cotton-based string folded over and over & tied with the same wire from the original. If the original was cotton & had been dry for a long time it is logical that it would decay.
So, this may date after 1969? Early Optimus? Damage: The hexes are rounded, probably from poorly adjusted adjustable wrenches, or the wrong wrench. I don't know, but the 2 look the same visually.
Cotton Mop String: about $6 at Walmart for a lifetime supply. Make sure it says 100% Cotton; there are polyester mops that will melt on you.
