Well hello. I'm not exactly new to this forum since I've lurked for several years, finally making a account because I have acquired a mystery coleman 9 in brown. I suspect it being a 9a but 9g was also given as a suggestion over on the ccf. Everdur with no pin confirms that it is no 9g though. Asking to satisfiy my curiosity since the emblem was mostly gone.
Howdy, @Reppie , Welcome to CCS! I know we have some great Coleman guys here, and hopefully, they will pop in with their own comments. The stove looks like a 9G, to me. Remember that the Everdur fuel tank might have been swapped out with another model, over the years. Happens far too often, unfortunately. My own #9 is an early version, and that's the only one I've seen in the flesh. So, I'm sure that many further nuances are lost on me, sorry to say. Thanks for signing up here at CCS! Heres a pic of the tattered 9's emblem compared to the 415c I got. And thanks for the kind message. Dont mind the white stuff and purple splotches thats marine jelly.
@Reppie , You are very welcome, Sir. You might consider subscribing to CCS, as the cost is very small, but the rewards are huge! I noted, in the Reference Gallery, this morning, after looking at your post, that our member @hikerduane has shared a great thread on his own Coleman #9G. I'm hoping, as I have now tagged him in this post, that he can offer you more information on your stove. From what I've read, the actual #9G stoves were in green cases. Your burner caps don't match the Band-A-Blu burner caps. Your pump could have been swapped out. Some Coleman stoves were a maroon brown. Mine has Band-A-Blu burners, I have many Coleman stoves. CCF should have helped. My labeled 9G has been repainted green by a PO. Has the pinned pump shaft, secondary burner knob is up front. I believe the Everdur tank. There is no 9A. Duane
Thanks for the info. Only reason I ever got 9a in my head was Dr. Terry Marsh's site in which the coleman mid 1930s section included what looked similar to mine labeling it a 9a and the intlccc stove id pdf. Also ccf is kind of funny you can't really search it for stoves since the number is too common but lanterns are a okay, so you have to go through every thread in the archives with the word suitcase stove or similar. Some pictures to confirm. Everdur, front face secondary 242 like knob, and the burners. Last is the wide one you're talking about right? the band a blu.
I was going off of models listed in the ICCC book, starts with model 9, no mention then of a 9A. The b-a-b burner cap is different than yours, can't recall if your's had a name. I have stoves with about all burner types. My left burner knob is like yours. I've been lucky and able on two Coleman stoves I bought or was given that I swapped tanks to and thus they then had the correct tanks. Duane
I just stumbled onto this topic while searching for something else...for what it's worth, that's a 9A. A 9G would have band-a-blu burners and a pinned pump stem. It's one of the nicer 9A's I've seen, and there aren't many out there. Most I've seen have been repainted or are rust buckets.
