Hi all, Just saying Hello. I'm looking for advice on converting my Camping Gaz Globe-Trotter stove burner. Would this be the correct place to post? It would be easier to explain with pics, am I allowed to post pics when I am just a newbie? Thanks all.

Hi, Jim Henderson in the USA has posted a solution on using larger cartridge supports enabling the C200 cartridge to be used, this makes the stove more like the S200/S200S owing to the larger cartridge, sounds like a good call. Best wishes=John. --------------------- If in doubt, brew up.
If you prefer to keep the compactness afforded by the original cartridges and clamp frames, there's the option of refilling the Globetrotter's gas cartridge while in the stove, but it'll be great to see what you've got in mind Rorymax and welcome! Thanks for the encouragement guys, I read the pics guide, here's hoping. photo_2_opt Shows from left to right: 1. My globetrotter stove. 2. The type of gas canister I wish to use. 3. A little tripod adapter that fits into globetrotter pots. 4. A cheap (£4.00) Chinese burner. 5. Another Chinese burner disassembled, I intend to fit the 'arrowed' part (the bit with the gas jet nozzle)to the underside of the globetrotter burner. photo_3_opt shows the standard chines burner (in full burn) fitted to the little tripod and connected to the gas canister. photo_4_opt shows the globetrotter burner sitting on the chinese jet nozzle (that 'arrowed' item) that is connected to the little tripod. photo_5_opt shows the underside of the globetrotter burner and the jet nozzle on the chinese component. photo_6_opt shows the globetrotter burner (in full burn) fitted to the chinese parts and the little tripod and gas canister. When I first lit the new setup it flared at low gas flow and extinguished itself when I increased the gas flow, I was ready to give up. I don't know how efficient the new globetrotter setup is compared to the standard chinese burner, I could try a boil test later, depending on what I hear from you guys. I messed about with the height of the gas nozzle jet, this is what gave me the results I am having right now, question is, is this the right thing to do? If it is OK to do that, then what do you seal the gas nozzle jet thread with? would loctite be OK? An afterthought is that I could fit the piezzo igniter to the globetrotter setup (with a little fettling). I really would appreciate your help guys. Thanks for your patience.

I've converted two Globetrotters and haven't experienced the issues you describe. I did try several different valves from various stoves and found one or two that did not work as well...probably because of the jet orifice size. There's some discussion in this thread - Link - loco7stove was able to use the original CampingGaz jet in his conversion...perhaps that would be your solution. I tried it your way...but I normally use mine with a threaded Lindal valve cartridge.
Spork, Thanks for that great link, wish I had seen it earlier, love the mods you made and the lids too. I notice that the chinese adapter does not screw into the brass tube of the globetrotter burner as far as yours does, on mine there is quite a gap, explains why I had to screw out the gas jet so far (I think). I hope you don't mind if I use your pic to illustrate the place where the gap is. I will also try the jet from the globetrotter and see if it makes a difference. Thanks, rorymax
I tried using the jet from the Globetrotter stove as Spork suggested, it functioned very badly. I had measured the height of the Chinese jet before removing it, after reinserting the Chinese jet to the original height, the stove performed badly, just flared all the time. I messed about trying different heights to no avail, about to give up I tried screwing it in all the way as a last attempt, it worked really well. I cannot make any sense of any of this, was there a partial blockage in the burner or was it something else? I do not know. Anyway I left it as it is in case it messed up again, I am happy with how the stove works but I am baffled by events. rorymax
If it works, I'd call it a win I can't explain it either...maybe it was the relationship of the jet to the air intake holes affecting the mixture.
