Some of my pics from Newark: John getting ready to cook some marshmallows: John and Nick discuss the merits of tea cosy designs: My little display at night. The lamp on the left is a Coleman Peak 1 3022 and next to it is a Coleman Torchlight. These were very kind gifts from Doc Mark and Flivver respectively at CASG8 last month : Terry
And with his eye on his next shot, Trojandog the photographer captured on camera himself ... ... and at his fettling table, with a drop of liquid refreshment to hand
How I wish we had enough collectors here in NZ to have a similar event. Nice photos and I look forward to seeing more. Thanks for posting them on site.
I recon we do have enough for a small event. How about Anzac weekend next year. Only question is where do we run it? My thoughts would be either Picton or Wellington as it means those from the other island can walk onto the ferry cutting costs Are you a starter?
Geeves, now you have got me thinking. Perhaps Waitangi day for warmer weather might be more preferable. I would have thought you would want to bring a vehicle over on the ferry in order to bring the collection along Picton or Queen Charlotte Sound have camping grounds. If there was enough interest shown then the event could held in alternative islands each year. Be interested to know if other stovies surface for comment on the idea.
Newark this year was very successful. Certainly there seemed to be more people than ever before. The weather was nice and sunny except for thunder and lightning one morning. I got sunburn on my arms and they are now both peeling. I did not take many photos. I always meant to, but just kept forgetting. I took some early Friday while there were not too many people. By the end of Friday the field was getting full. Part of the Fettlers Arms 'pub' on the left. Archie had another good meet. My cooking stoves - two Primus Grasshoppers. Another photo of lighting Tilley X246B lanterns to mark its 50th anniversary. Some shots of inside the Fettlers Arms. This year I had a small display of big stoves. I did not even take a photo of my display. This one is courtesy of Terry (Trojandog).
