I recently posted a couple of pictures of my Punker 1 burner with a Bialetti. I do thank the other members that posted photos of their Punkers. It helped me to know this stove better. Yesterday I took it apart and cleaned it. First an after shot. Note the looped bar is removed easily. Now some parts. The filler cap has a cup attached for scooping spirits, if the tank is full enough. The cup is spring loaded to drop the spirits if pressed down. Several photos show the deposits on the insides of fuel lines. Th brush is not evenly spaced for 'brush' anymore. Maybe made that way, or badly worn over time. This is what came out of the 'packing' that the spindle rod goes through. I replaced this with graphite foil from Terry. Thank you Terry. In the burner assembly you can see the hole that allows a small flame to keep it hot for simmering. A photo below shows the flame. I measured the jet hole with dial calipers. Not extremely accurate, but close, at 0.069". The cap where the brush is removed had a very worn gasket. I replaced it with a high temp gasket from Kerophile. Thank you George. This blurry photo does show the flame below that really helps this stove simmer so well. And a shot with the Simplex kettle on it. It took 10:33 to boil a quart of cold water. Ken in NC
Just like my Punker. It is almost my favorite stove at work to make coffee in the old percolator. With the price of alcohol it gets a little pricey to run, that is the only problem. Great stoves. piper
It does appear to be a SS base. I like it, and will use it more. Alcohol is so expensive. I don't use enough to justify making my own. Ken in NC
I recently found a 2 burner on eBay with an outrageous BIN price, so I went for it. Does anyone know the possible date range for these models of Punker? I am guessing 1960's-1970's???? Ken in NC
Two days ago I purchased a two-burner Punker marine stove. It appears to be in nice overall condition. I'm now cleaning it and will be replacing all gaskets and spindle packing. Now to soak the brass parts in a citric acid solution and do some polishing. Looking forward to making my tea on this baby. It was just too good of a deal to pass for $15USD. Thanks to all for this great site....
