I found this for sale in Norway last year and couldn't miss the opportunity!

In fairly good condition, it had been lightly cleaned and the case given a rattle-can/spray-can "makeover" to make it look more attractive for selling.

As it turns out its in reasonable condition, the case has a little pitting/light rust spots but its in overall good condition as well.

No control key, just a length of copper brake pipe flattened into a square end and a 90-degree bend to operate it. Hey, it worked for the meantime!

    A couple of obligatory on-arrival photos :D

Zero resistance on the pump stroke, I oiled the leather which improved things but it wouldn't make pressure. The cup carrier was of the riveted-assembly type, and of rather rough construction, not sure if this is original or a replacement :-k
I adopted a spare Primus 96 cup carrier with a good/used leather, it made pressure instantly but the NRV leaked back.
The NRV was removed and found to be the original cork one with a slightly damaged face, it was reversed to show the new/good face and refitted. Holding pressure nicely now.

Initial fire-up, lots of pretty colours as usual for a burner thats not been used for a while:

    Flame wildly askew:

I gently straightened the slightly warped burner tubes and got it nearly central (as near as I dare anyway).
After a judicious pricking the flow was also greatly improved

After a 5 minutes or run so it suddenly doubled in output, so whatever little fleck of rubbish was inside had moved and it became a real powerhouse :D

I know full well that I'll have to brave removing the jet at some point and try a decoke of the burner, but for the meantime if it behaves itself I'll put a few hours use into it, the heat cycles and use will help it along.

Next to tackle the control key. The length of copper pipe got so hot so quickly it reminded me of a SVEA 123R control key on steroids

I had nothing suitable to use so I rummaged in the spares and found a Radius control key with the end damaged/bent to 45 degrees. It had a reasonably thick section brass tube so was an ideal donor.

The burner spindle measured up as 3/16" square. A further rummage turned up some 3/16 square HSS lathe tool stock....
I ground one end to a long "flat", and the other to a short "square".

The theory being to work the flat in gradually, wiggle it out, turn it 90 degrees and repeat.
Finish off with the square end driven in gently to even out the end of the socket.

It worked lovely, I annealed the tube and quenched the knob a few times and it formed the square no problem. I finished it off by swaging it on a flat surface 8]

Fits fine, looks the part, works lovely, but its obvious now why SVEA knobs are a smaller diameter

I'll take it on my next trip to give it some use 8]

These are very nice stoves. I’d love to find one here, downunder.

    Thanks for the detail.
