Hello! My father-in-law was hoeing in the garden and found this Svea buried for perhaps more than sixty years. He says he even belonged to his grandparents...unfortunately he hit him with the hoe while he was digging, but I told him I think it could still work Will see Nicola
Suggestions welcome: leave the patina exactly as it is trying to light it or give it a little clean to at least read the model number? It’s an early one with side Cyrillic texts. Nicola
Nicola, we all believe you can make it work, and look nearly new. But can you make it work and leave the patina/corrosion intact? I don't know. I'd love to see you try :-) You can always finish cleaning it up later.
@Scrambler of course! I didn’t want to clean it to shine, just to read model number, but I was able already to read it… it is a 15. Already cleaned inside and replaced all the seals… the burner is clogged… I will try to clean it only inside as well Nicola
Svea 15s are about as indestructible as you can get, of course you can get it going Just be careful not to disturb the patina

The riser joint solder was leaking, fortunately with some random heat it stopped… hope it will last. Nicola
Hi @Nicola Francesco Elia, i must admit even though i usually clean and polish stoves when fettling a new addition, just the once mind unless it is over 100 years (antique) or rare and special circumstances. But in this case with the history i personally would more than likely, just leave it exactly how it is, but then would it be good to bring it back to working order after being buried by family after sixty years, it's quite a dilemma Nicola, what ever you decide will be your decision, i shall taka interest in this one

@Majicwrench the garden where it has been found (and the relative house) has been uninhabited for some decades… probably the stove has been left in the garden with other stuff and then nature took over it… I think the missing legs have dissolved during the years… Nicola
