Greetings, All, Over the years, I have obtained several stoves, marketed under different brand names, such as Sears Roebuck & Co., JC Higgins, etc., and also under their own name. Not the most elegant of stoves, the Poloron products do fill a niche in the needs of campers of that time period for a low-priced, fairly reliable stove. I am starting a category for this Company because of the stoves they made, and will be adding more to it as I find the info and photos I have. Here's the first tidbit: "Poloron Co. Inc. The Poloron manufacturing company no longer exists and few of their products exist today. The Poloron Manufacturing Company was located in 110 Menke Rd. in Michigan City, Indiana where mowers were made. The Company made snowmobiles in 165 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle, New York 10801 from 1970 to 1972 and other things like snow throwers, push mowers, travel trailers, outdoor cooking equipment, picnic products, lawn ornaments, campers, and camping equipment. The branch of Poloron that made mowers began in 1967 when Poloron bought Levitt Manufacturing Company and ended in the early 1970's producing them during the offseason (exact date of company ending point is currently unknown to this group). Models include Fleetwood, Cougar, Stallion, Garden Pro, Lawn Tamer, and Mark III. Mostly all of their mowers used 7hp or 8hp Briggs and Stratton Engines and identification codes could be found on right rear of the mower. Their company was named Poloron Products of Indiana, Inc. Doc, J.C. Higgins was Sears, Roebuck and Co's name for their in-house sporting goods, including outboard motors, boats and canoes, camping equipment, camp stoves, firearms, fishing gear and others. They then went to "Hillary" named after Sir Edmund Hillary and "Ted Williams" I don't recollect the order of the changes and if they still use some of the names. I hardly ever shop at Sears any more.
Hey, Thuggy, Ahhhhh....comes the dawn!! Thanks for sharing that bit of info. I knew that Sears used "Hillary", and "Ted Williams", but had not knowledge of JCH being their brand, too. Good to know. I've got a Poloron GS1 2 burner, in rough condition but still burns like mad and gets used a bit. Looking forward to your progress Keith
Interesting that the Poloron Co was the sponser of my little league baseball team in New Rochelle in the early 60s. I remember meeting the head of the company when I was 12 He posed with the team for that years team photo.

I just realized I have a new Poloron two burner camp stove. Shelf wear only with a very shallow small ding. Really nice blue and white. I bought it several years ago and remembered it wrongly as a Thermos brand. It has been sitting in a closet in the house for years. I saw it and purchased from an estate thrift sale store.
Sweet! Mine (see post above) is also blue/white, but is very much looking it's age. Really due for some love . Would you post a picture? BTW, I grew up in Richland.
Hello Keith, it’s really good to here from you! I was born in Richland at Kadlec and lived at 323 Sanford. Was raised in Pasco graduating high school in 1973. My mother, Norma Myrick, was first class thru 3 yrs at Carmichael Jr High and a cheerleader at Columbia High. She geaduated in ‘54. Moved to Richland 10 yrs ago w my wife. You? Let’s stay in touch.
Those pumps have Orings that can fail, which cause fuel to come squirting out of pump. If you go to use it beware. What a beautiful stove. I graduated 78, went to Carmichael and Columbia High. 1308 Cottonwood was home. My aunt, Norma Meyers, graduated from Richland about same time as your mom. Might ask your mom? My aunt is long gone.
My sister and her husband live in Kennewick; she spent most of her career as a teacher at Richland Jr. High. My daughter-in-law is also a Kennewick girl. I spent a lot of time in the Tri-Cities in my 60s when I was assistant Attorney General. Meetings with agencies, depositions, court appearances, etc. I tried one memorable jury case in the Benton County justice center defending the Washington State Patrol (defense verdict ). I like it over there. To visit, that is....
