    Hello.
    Have thought about why Primus and many other stoves end up with US. Optimus, Primus, Radius, Pellus, Perfektus, and many others.
    My wife thinks it may have something to do with Latin language

    Is there an explanation for this, and if so, what is the explanation.

    I won’t go into a full explanation of Latin declension, but “us” as a suffix in Latin is used, in this case, to name a thing or a person in the singular (if a “male” noun) - as in Julius Caesar.

    as above...
    John The First ->Joannes Primus
    John The Best->Joannes Optimus
    but
    First among equals - Primus inter pares - too
    primum - at first ->the first (someone) ->primus
    serve-> servus
    but Efeb -> Efebus (bright)->Phoebus (german ver.)
    Ursus, Brutus, Versus, Germanicus, Gallus, Barbaricus, Janus

    -----------------------
    In The Old Times
    name has the meaning -
    name was -omen, prophecy for future life - and often reality, or history gives new or second...
    was Svend after years came Tveskæg, norw. Svein Tjugeskjegg, ang. Svein Forkbeard

    Latinization of names has been used by the scientific community for hundreds of years. Perhaps manufacturers of these stoves believed that carrying that tradition into the names of their products would imbue them with a scientific aura to inspire confidence among consumers.

    Interesting. Thank you Tom,
    Back to OP, the names are familiar aside from Pellus :-k the rarity, TY for that, my something new learned today.
    For sake of conversation I will set aside:
    the rare Pellus (Swedish) with elusive origin of that name.

    Perfektus: enough said? (German) a "Tom favorite"
    Phoebus: bright, shining, radiant (Austrian)

    These other ___us Swedish stove makers... one might wonder why the c. 1900 Swede makers went with Latin influence ?. Hunch: Roman influence ... a notably most technologically advanced civilization?

    We could be done here but re your: Now I can see the meaning of the Latin names. I'll delve a little deeper.

    The most familiar are more obvious:
    > Primus: the first
    > Optimus: the best
    > Lux: the light (more lamp maker than stoves) not an ___us name but is another Swedish stove maker that chose it's name based on Latin origin.

    > RADIUS... :-k
    let us maybe even combine name and shooting star logo?
    I will leave that to others to ponder.
    Why RADIUS?
    "Maybe" someone might find a reference that will make it more clear? but, myself, speculation is all I have.
    Views strictly language based potential origins:
    radiant or ... Latin...
    extend forth, rise, outward or
    rise, grow.

    As for myself (stumped), I will keep in mind (while pondering: why the name RADIUS)
    that the company began in 1913 staffed 100% by ex-Primus employees with legit grievance (left Primus on-strike). This was a startup company entering fiercely competitive advanced market (add in WW1 market disruption).

    It is easy to think a Radius mission statement could have been
    to "beat" Primus
    but in 19-teens they were surrounded by established successful competitors.
    A tact Radius adopted was to win-over customers with innovations (improved products), credit to Ross for the insight.
    That and "maybe"... shooting/ going above & beyond the competition played into name :-k . It's a stretch I know :oops: .

    but why RADIUS :-k ... anyone have idea / explanation?

    Radius can mean "ray" in Latin.
