A Camping Gaz GlobeTrotter in the unlit condition & a similar stove lit. These stoves date from about the early to mid-70s.
Hello seen your post and wonder if these types of stoves take a special canister for fuel ? Or are they a universal fuel canister type? I see these type of stoves on E-bay all the time and would like to get one. That is if you can get fuel cells pretty easy. Thanks Eric.
Eric, It's a shame but the GT106 90g cartridges that these stoves take have been discontinued for years and are now extremely difficult to get hold of.
But don't let that stop you! The pot set fits a Svea 123 perfectly, probably the neatest solo set you'll find for one.
This is very true. However, if the idea of a compact gassy in its own little panset appeals you could do something like this:
Do those thumbnails on Ians post work?? or is it just me??? Interested to know what stove body / valve you borrowed to make the conversion?? Cheers john
No, they don't work for me, either - I've tried to sort them but failed. I think Ian will need to re-post them...
First post is odd, too. There are only two images but they're labelled 1 of 5 and 2 of 5. What happened to the other three..?
David, the other three are the three removed pictures from Ians later post. 1 to 5 includes all pictures in the entire topic.
They don't work for me either. Early picture post from me - must not have read the istructions properly. Edit called for, methinks.
The valve came from a nondescript cheapo gas bnr that I picked up when I was looking at converting the GT to use the Coleman 100g can. The same bnr unit is currently selling as the 'Gelert Rambler' (there's a couple on ebay uk at the moment. The GT bnr/ windshield assy. fit like it was meant to but the valve spindle needed shortening by 5 or 6mm to fit in the pans.
hi i have just got one of these gaz globetrotters off ebay and i realise the gas is no longer available and had the idea of using the coleman gas but wanted to use the burner and wind shield off the globetrotter as this holds the pan perfect can you please tell me what you used to acheave this thanks colin
Take the longer cartridge supports off of a standard size super bluet & use the large can/cartridge until you can find some original small carts Gives a longer cooking time too Stu .
Thanks for the reply but I didn't want to use the bigger cans as the cans can't be packed away fully. Is there a way I could use a different regulator so that it fits on the resealable cans but still use the original windshield and burner? Thanks, Colin
Hi stu, Perhaps you might consider testing the ground for making a small batch of standard (S200) canister supports for the globetrotter, I daresay there's people out there who may want them. John. --------------------- If in doubt, brew up.
Yes, or even the valve assembly conversion to use Coleman carts. A valve conversion would let you remove the cart, pack the stove burner in a small sack, and use the pot set for a 123!
